Hello, I'm Suzie Carter 👋

I'm a children's book author and illustrator who believes every child deserves a story that makes them feel seen, celebrated, and full of wonder. Based in New York,  I've been crafting picture books and illustrated adventures after many years in the business community.

My work blends whimsical, textured illustration with stories rooted in big emotions — courage, imagiination, curiosity, and the beautiful messiness of growing up. I work in watercolor, oil  and digital media, often letting the three dance together on the same page.

Before becoming a full-time author-illustrator, I studied digital and visual illustration and spent several years as a graphics designer, which taught me sometimes the most powerful stories live in a single image.
